ECSM Holds the Fifth Forum

About 40 Syrian journalists are to participate in the fifth forum organized by the Ethical Charter for Syrian Media (ECSM) under the title “Hate Speech: Why again?”

The forum which is to be held tomorrow on Sunday in Istanbul aims at exchanging views on the concept of hate speech and its relationship to recruitment, freedom of speech and propaganda. It also discusses the effects of hate speech on public opinion and the audience.

The forum, organized by “Free Press Unlimited” also discusses the role of some media organizations in deploying hate speech for their own ends and the effects of that on Syrian media, in addition to discussing the means to confront such a speech.

The Fifth Forum is one of the activities organized by ECSM which aim at learning about international and regional experiences related to ethical journalism. The forum is also important to exchange views on international issues related to the profession of journalism and the impact of that on the Arab situation in general and the Syrian situation in particular. This is especially important for performance development and opening new prospects among professionals for joint benefits and development
