“Constructive Journalism” A New Forum by Ethical Charter for Syrian Media

Ethical Charter for Syrian Media organized on Sunday its third forum in Istanbul. The forum is about “Constructive Journalism” and will last for one day.

The meeting was facilitated by the Dutch journalist Daniela Batist, one of the establishes of constructive journalism project and a prominent independent journalist who supports the role of journalism in social change and in shedding light on solutions and positive aspects of a conflict. She has an experience of more than 61 years in this field.

The meeting was attended by a diverse group of Syrian journalists from different organizations and witnessed rich discussions on the concept of constructive journalism and the need of finding new perspectives to cover stories in times of war and the impact of that on the audience.

During the meeting, Dr. Nashwa Akl from Media Faculty in Cairo University submitted an online presentation of her scientific study on the effects of negative news coverage on audience and stressed that such kind of coverage affects the audience negatively and may push them to stop watching news.

This forum is the first forum organized by ECSM after electing a new board of managers.
