ECSM elections….”Idlib News Network” tops the list of winners

Gaziantep – The recent ECSM elections have strengthened the paths of democratic practice within the organization, and all stages of the electoral process have achieved an active interaction, to win membership of the board of directors, which is the body of governance and representation.

The integrity and transparency standards that characterized all stages of the election timetable stimulated the response to the participation in the nomination and voting processes, which had 13 results, and a massive turnout of 84.4 percent (23 voters out of 26 institutions eligible to vote). Omar Haj Ahmad, the Idlib News Network candidate, topped the list of winners with 20 votes.

The elections were supervised by a committee commissioned by the Board of Directors, composed of Absi Smeisem, Mourchid Alchikh Nayef, Heba Doghmosh, and Melhem Al Abdullah, which was taken from the mechanism of the Board of Directors ’elections mentioned in the Policies and Procedures Manual as its reference.

The screening, which was broadcast through the General Assembly group on Facebook, was attended by a delegate from the Aleppo channel today. The electoral process involves its last stages today, responding to appeals and announcing the final results, which came as follows according to the number of votes:

Omar Haj Ahmad – Idlib News Network: 20 twenty votes.

Akram Alahmad – Syrian Press Center: 19 nineteen votes.

Ahmad Elabsi – Hibr Press: 17 seventeen votes.

Nour Ooka – Jesr Press: 17 seventeen votes.

Khaled Somaisim – Sada Al-Sham newspaper: 16 sixteen votes.

Ayman Mohamad – Baladi News Network: 16 sixteen votes.

Ghossoun Abo Aldahab – Syrian Journalists Association: 14 fourteen votes.

Emad Al-Tawashi – News Center website: 12 twelve votes.

Hala Al-Kayari – Althouraya newspaper: 11 eleven votes.

Khaleel Agha – Halab Today TV: 9 nine votes.

Bassel Aloudat – Geiroon Network: 6 six votes.

Lina Chawaf – Radio Rozana: 5 five votes.

Ammar Ziyada – Enab Baladi newspaper: 3 three votes.

The Board of Directors consists of seven members, who are elected by the General Assembly through a secret ballot. According to the Bylaws, “Every organization in the General Assembly has the right to introduce its representative as a candidate for board elections, provided that he is head employee in his work or a member of the board of directors in his organization. The term of office of the Board is two calendar years from the day following the announcement of the election results, and a member cannot remain in the Board for more than two consecutive terms”.
